Terry J Lev, artist, mom, wife, retired CalPERS employee, sister, friend, gardener, photographer and wanna be musician. Residing in downtown Sacramento in a big 1920’s house with bass playin" husband, Joe Lev. Blessed with two very wonderful grown children and have a semi neurotic dog, a grand-dogger, 3 cats, and a cockatiel.
Born in San Francisco, raised in a little green house in South Sacramento where the cold, foggy winters were warmed by family and friends and the hot summer days were cooled in a Dough-boy pool.
Creativity has always been there. At a very young age learned to sew and made clothing, dolls and lots of costumes. Loved Photography for years, capturing that moment in time. Attempted a small photo business in the early 90’s called “Take a picture it will last longer” and privileged to photograph events, weddings, births and bands. Contributing writer for newsletters, designed CD covers, fliers, cards and brochures.
Learned to play the Piano as a child, Flute as a tween, Guitar and Keyboard as a teenager, as an adult, Ukulele and now the Zydeco Rubboard!
Tj's creative interests turned to painting a few years ago, just before turning 50. Became overwhelmed with an urge to paint. Typically using acrylics, art is whimsical, very colorful, bold and fun. Inspired by the magic and marvels of the natural world, the ocean, the moon, and also watching Joe make beautiful music. Images can be inspired by something small, an ordinary object, a shadow, a reflection, all spiced with a vibrant imagination and wacky sense of humor. Painting is relaxing, time slows at the easel… stresses of the day just wash away.
Enjoyed a rich and rewarding analyst career with CalPERS for the State of California for the last 30 years, is now retired; living, loving, and creating my art for the world to enjoy. Be well… Tj.
